Why COSA?
Architectures bear witness to societies. They embody their economy, their politics, their ideals and their doubts. There are all kinds: radical, greedy, formal, personal, rational, sensual, generous, authoritarian, strict… They are all interesting when they are demanding of themselves.
COSA's architecture thrives on Cartesianism and systems. It looks for minimal equations in the relationship between programme, structure and site. It avoids arbitrary form, storytelling and salvific drawings that transcend a problem, in pursuit of geometric and constructive evidence. It seeks out the pleasures of architecture: the landscape, the passage of time, the softness of materials and the beauty of their use.
COSA's architecture is clear and rigorous. COSA defends the idea that architecture must be simple in order to answer complex questions. COSA's architecture seeks out the programmatic frictions from which new situations emerge, and their meaning in a globalised society.
